Parents, Young People & Alcohol
  • Discussing Alcohol with Young People

Although research has indicated that the number of teenagers drinking has declined in recent years, it also suggests that those who do drink are consuming more alcohol, more often (NHS report, Drug use, Smoking and Alcohol Use Amongst Young People, 2007).  This makes it more important to discuss alcohol issues with young people.

These pages offer advice and guidance on broaching alcohol issues as well as providing links to other sources of information.

  • Coping with Parental Use

Given that research suggests that parental drinking patterns influence the way that young people drink, it is important to provide advice and support for those affected by a significant adult's problematic drinking.

This section offers direction to sources of information & support for those affected.
